Deleting an Asset

You can delete different types of assets from IT Asset Management: for example, computer hardware and furniture items, as well as routers, switches, and other asset records.

tip

While you can delete an asset record, this technique is usually reserved for correcting the data entry errors. It is generally best practices with correctly-recorded assets to change their status to Disposed. Doing so removes them from many of the asset reports, but ensures that historical records of the assets remain available for audit purposes.

To delete an asset record:

  1. Navigate to the Hardware > Hardware Assets menu and click one of the following:
    • Device Assets
    • Device Assets without Inventory
    • Changed Device Assets
    • Non-Device Assets
    • All Assets
    • Or, navigate to Hardware > Hardware Expiry and click one of the following:
    • Asset Lease Expiry
    • Asset Warranty Expiry
  2. Select an asset to be deleted, and click Delete .
