Getting Started With Automation

Flexera One Automation uses policies to automate governance across your multi-cloud environment to increase agility and efficiency while managing security and risk in your organization. The capability is purpose built to leverage an intelligent policy engine that lets you enforce rules and best practices to help you achieve your business outcomes like saving time, cost reduction, increasing utilization, and rightsizing your cloud environment.

note

At this time, Automation documentation is limited to the following policy categories. For a detailed list of policies, see List of Flexera Policies.

  • Cost
  • Security
  • Operations and Infrastructure
  • Compliance
  • SaaS Management

Automation Key Capabilities

Flexera One Automation provides:

  • Built-in policies for Cost, Security, Operational, and Compliance use cases
  • Dry run policies that allow you to then configure them to take approved actions on any API backed cloud, service, and resource
  • The ability to automate policies across your entire cloud landscape (multiple accounts)
  • The option to maintain policy-as-code using the built-in policy template language to write your own policies
  • Enforcement rules on any cloud or any service with an API
  • Automation of your policies using the fully-featured Automation API and documentation.

Configuring Ingress for Automation With a Safelist CIDR IP

Flexera One Automation is a powerful capability that allows integration with public and internal APIs for recommendations, governance, and reporting. In some cases, our Automation system needs to access systems that restrict access by IP address, such as firewalls or SaaS (software as a service) solutions with high security needs. See the Source IP Address Filtering subsection of the Safelist URLs and Endpoints Help page for a list of the CIDR IP ranges used by our Automation capability, so that external systems can be configured to allow our systems access to the necessary details using a trusted IP addresses range.
